Working with poor or marginalized clients to resolve legal issues with dignity, respect and justice

Our Mission

To provide legal services to the poor and marginalized of North Louisiana

Christian Legal Aid of North Louisiana is a non-profit legal aid clinic providing legal aid services for the poor and marginalized victims of injustice in North Louisiana. Through a gospel-focused, Christ-centered, selfless means, we offer limited array of legal services to those who make too much for legal aid and too little to hire a private attorney.

Our Services

We seek to serve clients holistically by providing legal services as well as counseling, prayer and referrals to other ministries that address broader issues. We are in partnership with Christian Legal Society, an international Christian legal organization for oversight, accountability, and help in fulfilling our mission.

Our services are entirely funded by private donors and churches. We do not provide criminal defense services although we do provide post-conviction services with expungements. Services are limited to those with civil legal issues  that are not otherwise funded by contingency or statutory attorney’s fees. In other words, we do not provide services for personal injury claims nor for any cause of action in which attorney’s fees may awarded.

See our Services page for more information on the kind of help we can provide.

Christian Conciliation

Do you have an enemy today? Someone who has has done you great harm or is out to get you right now? For nearly 40 years, I have advocated for clients over monetary disputes. We win some and lose some, but ultimately the soul wounds remain.

In Micah 6:8 we are told, "He has showed you, 0 man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

In the same way, Jesus teaches us to pay attention to "the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness" (Matt. 23:23).

If you are a Christ-follower, you are called to live out the gospel and make the Lord's priorities your priorities, you can turn every conflict into a stepping-stone to a closer relationship with God and a more fulfilling and fruitful Christian life. I believe this is true, but it’s not easy and many lawyers don’t encourage conciliation. Sure they will mediate for money, but the folks in the midst of litigation are angry because they have to sue to get money they believe they are entitled or angry about preventing paying money they don’t believe they are owed.

Church disputes, contract disputes, divorce mediation, personal injury claims, or employment disputes can all be conciliated.

Conciliation requires more than just the money or winning; it involves courage, humility, wisdom and trust in the process.
